I did not like the little hearts on the leaves after i got them all appliqued. maybe it was the color. i might add something later, but for now, this is it. after the first leaf, this was a fun block to make. gini

I like it without the hearts too Gini. I'm working on my leaves.
I finished mine today. Here it is:

beautiful block ,carol now, i love your little hearts. mine were probably too close in color to the background. i might have to rethink adding them. gini
Carol, how pretty! I haven't started mine yet, so it's nice to see how the little hearts look. Really nice work, Carol. Were the leaves hard to do?
Gini, this is pretty. Your work is always perfect. I like the different fabrics in the little things below the leaves (the C-ish shapes). It makes it interesting. I am still debating about the hearts. I haven't started my block yet.
I've noticed something about myself with this quilt. In the beginning I was sticking pretty close to what the author used in the book and what I've seen in traditional Baltimores. The more blocks I make, the more willing I am to vary from that. I like it. I don't know why I was being so rigid in the first place. It's a Baltimore, I guess, and that made me think in a little bit of a box. Now I'll have to make sure I don't get all wonky with my fabric choices and end up with some ugly quilt, lol.
Thanks Gini and Linny T! I didn't find the leaves hard to do - just take your time in getting that seam allowance under. I took them slow and it went well. I think I had more trouble with the little hearts, getting that inside 'v' to go under! It was tiny!! But I am pleased with how it finished. Now on to the next one.
thanks linny. i'm the same way i strt off sticking close to the book, and then i add b&w checked flowers. as long as you introduce a wonky fabric several times throughout the blocks it will look good. is it even possible to make an ugly baltimore?
your block is very pretty. Your hearts look good. Nice work.
I forgot to say I like your block too. I like your fabrics. I really admire your fearlessness when choosing fabrics.
Gini and Carol - I like both of your renditions - with the hearts and heartless (sorry, couldn't pass on that :o) )
Thanks Kris and Marge!
No such thing as an ugly baltimore!!! You are doing just fine! :-)
"is it even possible to make an ugly baltimore?"
This was one of my early blocks, that I know I would do a much better job on the leaves if I were to do it again. They didn't turn out bad, just that they were not fun at the time I did them. The hearts in the leaves I did as reverse applique.
Pretty block Grandma Sal. I like your yellow fabric a lot.
I found the leaves quite tedious so I was slow in getting them done.
