Gini,

I tried it when I started exploring appliqué. It's not for me. I get lost when I take out the stitches. It says the holes act as guides but my pieces were off. I didn't like it very much.

Now that I'm more confident and comfortable with appliqué I might try it again.

I also saw a method somewhere where the lady traced the design on the wrong side of the background fabric then she did a running stitch inside the lines. She used the stitches as guides for placing her pieces but she did not remove them since the pieces covered them up. This takes more prep time since you need to turn the edges under before placing the pieces.
