Beautiful block Gini. I love the flowers.
Gini Gini Gini, I want to be like you when I grow up. your block is so beautiful,
Wow everyone is doing great! Silly me, I went on a cruise so now I have to catch up! I'll post as soon as I get something done!
joey, forget about the quilting for a bit, i want to hear about your cruise, where did you go? did you have tons of fun? gini
Gini, I love the way you make the unexpected happen with your fabrics. It's really beautiful!
Sorry for the slow reply. I went to Mexico. We stopped in Puerto Vallarta and Cabo San Lucas. It was a cruise put together by my sister-in-law. It was all girls. Me, my SIL, her sister and mother, me and my MIL. It was a great experience but I'm glad to be home!
Hi Everyone, It's me Ree! I want to make a country cousins quilt too! I watch my grandkids in the summer so I like to do hand applique. I'm not the greatest at it but I am a firm believer in "Finished is better than perfect."
On another thought, I was watching the Cricut machine on HSN and wondered if anyone ever used one to cut applique shapes? I though it was not so bad since so many "dies" are included. Any thoughts? Thanks Ree
Gini, How can I bring up the block you did? Ree
hi ree, we will love to have you join us making this quilt. we are working out of a book, baltimores country cousins, by mckelvey.
as to the cricut, you'ld need a die for each shape, and the dies are very expensive. i don't know if you can even get custom dies made. you could probably use it for a generic leaf.
i like your quote" finished is better than perfect" i like to say "if it's done, it's good enough" gini
Having trouble with the bird on this one. I'm going to give it another shot but I might go with an easier bird from another block.
kris, no need for a bird even, just bring a couple of stems out from where the hearts are, end them below where the bird is supposed to be and drop another heart in your block.
Thanks Gini. I think I got it now. I really like your idea though.
I finally got it done. I liked the motifs on the flower fabric so I fussy cut it and did not make centers for my flowers. The bird was a pain (placement and tiny curves) but I persevered. Without further ado:
kris, very nice block. your bird looks great, and i love the flowers
