Have you ever sandwiched your quilt o a bed? Table surfaces are on-existent; floor to low for my old back. Any suggestions?

I use my bed for most quilts. it is a large queen, if I remove the pillow shams and other pillows it gives me 60 x 80 inches. to prevent needles and things getting into the bed it self ( it is a sleep comfort (air) bed) my husband brought home 3 large 4 ft x 5ft pieces of cardboard. Very thin stuff....

Goodness, trying to figure out this system. Wanted to say that I used to use heavy banquet tables to lay out my quilt, using vise grips to anchor whatever part of the quilt fit the top, then moved it over carefully until entire quilt was pinned. Those tables took up a lot of room and were very heavy...
