  • Quilting/sewing/embroidering machines

I am wanting to buy a new sewing machine and have researched online. There are so many to choose from these days. My old machine is a Brother from the 1950s and does not work very well anymore. Cannot get the tension corrected for any length of time. Always messing up. So, I decided to get a new modern...

  • Does anyone own the Brother SC9500 Sewing Machine?

What size bobbin does the SC9500 sewing machine use? I do have a sewing machine (LS590) and it works just fine but their are some features I would like to have: needle down & speed control. Plus it would be nice to have a back up machine just in case either one needs to go to the repair shop.

Congrats on the new machine! A few years ago I got my new Elna Quilt Dream Pro. She sure intimidated me at first! Now we are best friends and I couldn't live without her. I still have my original BF....a Pfaff Tipmatic. She sits in my bedroom for nights like tonight when I can't sleep...

So I've set up my new Babylock and am feeling quite inadequate. My other machine was so simple and this one is most definitely not. I can't even get it threaded the right way in order to engage the auto threader. And I'm not sure I'm winding my bobbins correctly as I am having tension...

I can't believe I did it... After using my old manual Janome Harmony for the last 8 years ( I knew nothing when I bought it, except it was cheap and I could put it on my Sears card) I've been itchin' to get a new tool/toy. Mind you, I don't actually "need" one, this one is quite...

  • Re: It's Time for MQ V!

I've been looking through my magazines at the Christmas wall hangings. I made one last year for our motorhome. It was one of those last minute panels and I added some borders and then quilted around it. It really did turn out cute and the kids did like it, so that is important. I started to cut some...

  • Re: Irons and sewing machines, oh my!

Wow! I can't tell you how helpful all your posts are. Your generousity in taking the time is amazing. With that in mind, I thought I'd give you an update. On the iron: yesterday I bought a Rowenta Pro Master at Sears on sale for about $80. It was a lot to spend, but the discount was large and...

  • Irons and sewing machines, oh my!

It looks like I'm in the market for both right now. So, I come to you for your wisdom! Two questions: 1) If you were buying a new iron for quilting (and general use) which one would you get? AND 2) I'm looking for a lightweight sewing machine to take to classes, retreats, etc. One with decent...

  • Re: Which machine?

I bought the Janome Memory Craft Professional 6600 about a year and a half ago. Overall, I'm very happy. It is the nicest machine I've ever owned. It came with three years free service. These are my favorite things about it: Thread cutter Button (no more clipping threads from the back of the...

  • Looking to Upgrade!

Hi All, I just stumbled across this website today, and am already finding its a great resource! I am looking to upgrade my sewing machine. I started quilting almost a year ago on a small Wal-Mart Brother. I am wanting something with at least a 9" throat space, and will eventually buy a frame to...
