  • Re: Home Quilting Machines

Craigslist is a really good idea! Maybe I will find my dream machine on there!!! Penny I don't think I could ever go back to a machine with a "normal" throat size after using my Pfaff grand quilter for so long. It makes quilting so much easier with the wide throat...I think mine is 17"...

  • Time for a new Sewing Machine ?

About 8 years ago, before I knew anything about sewing or quilting, I paid less than 200 for a Sears branded Janome Harmony 4052 sewing machine. Paid an extra 30 for a walking foot (once I found out what it was). This is a really basic machine that has taken me through 6 bed sized quilts and a half dozen...

  • domestic machine quilting, help please

I've been working through a book "Easy Machine Quilting". I've done the exorcizes on 14" blocks, they turned out really well and like to use my domestic machine for quilting. But now I have a lap quilt (maybe a little bigger) I want to start on. I've done a bit, but find myself...

  • A sewing machine for a young girl.

My great grand daughter aged 8, decided last August that she wanted to learn to sew. By December she had made gifts for her whole family. She was eager and learned quickly. For her 9th birthday she now wants her own sewing machine "with all the buttons". In other words she wants a digital....

  • Re: sewing machine reviews

The throat space and everything is the same as the QE. It just has the ability to sew the 9mm as opposed to the 5.5mm. I decided I would rather have that additional width and forego the stitch regulator that was included with the QE. But since I do all my FMQ on the frame with my midarm I decided I didn't...

  • Re: sewing machine reviews

Nancy I have a KenQuilt 622 that came with a 12ft frame. It is designed to be strictly a midarm. I was able to get a really good deal on it because it was a trade in model that they refurbished. It is a very heavy machine and stays on my frame. I think even if I had bought a frame to be used with a DSM...

  • Re: sewing machine reviews

Nancy My machine has a 9 in throat and I quilt up to King size (120 - 124 inches) on mine. I have had to turn the quilt around a couple times because It was so thick that I couldn't roll the whole quilt into the machine throat. I have never had to turn my queen size.

Nancy I don't know alot about the 1600 but a 9 inch throat will work nicely on the frame.
