  • Quilt for a foster child

Thanks, Carolyn, for your blocks. Take a look at the quilt we just sent off to Samantha! She's a foster teen in Rhode Island who just lost her mother. Our message? You are not alone. We'll be starting a new project shortly for another foster child. Watch for my post.

  • Can't get away from white fabric!!!!

Before all that about my family being crazy about my quilting I was doing a quilt for my little girl for Christmas which is going to be a tinkerbell quilt with purple and yellow. Well I couldn't find a better color selection for what I wanted the quilt to look like. I'm really bad when it comes...

Hi Gini! OMG! You must've freaked out at first! Sounds like having a good sense of humor and having the ability to laugh at yourself are pre-requisites for quilting! Speaking of which, I was busing sewing my strips together (as suggested) and patting myself on the back 'cause it was coming out...

Hi Rachel! Well I guess you must be an expert 'cause both Margaret and Marge agree with you that my seam allowance is 1/4". Thank you to Rachel, Margaret and Marge for your help! • Heirlooms from my Grandmother

My Grandmother married in 1931 in Kansas. As a wedding gift, family and friends embroidered quilt squares on flour sack cloth. The embroidery was done in the year before the wedding after their engagement was announced. Each person signed the square they completed... in embroidery! These squares are...

  • Re: Counting projects

I went to the quilt store to buy one piece of fabric for a binding and left with $70 worth of flannels, fat quaters and of course, the binding material. The flannels were on sale and the store was not going to be carring flannels any longer soooooooooooo Sat. I asked my husband if we could swing in for...

  • Pressing and Spray Sizing

A quilting friend of mine proudly mentioned that she uses sizing on all her quilts after she prewashes her fabrics. Having never used sizing or starch on any of my fabrics (clothing or quilting) I was curious why someone would add an extra step to the process. She told me that if I spray - wait - press...

Kris, You can copy on freezer paper with your printer. Yes, I've done that. You just need to watch and make sure that your settings are for 'other' and keep an eye on it so that it doesn't jam up. Here is a picture of my Baltimore Album Sampler that I started in 2007. It is all together...
