  • Keeping your Quilt Block in the Order you want them.

I don't know about you but once I have finished with all my blocks and have them in the order I want them in on my quilt wall, I have a heck of a time keeping them in that order when I need to sew. So instead of the little round labels or post-its that everyone else likes to use I use the photo/scrapbook...

  • Barnaby's Bands - Winter 2012 Easy Quilts

I absolutely LOVE this quilt. When my Mush was alive she could often be found "helping" me with my quilts. As I was reading this pattern, I thought this would be a perfect quilt to quilt the sections before sewing them together. I plan on giving that a try. When? Well, that's a different...

  • When quilting a large quilt on my DSM

I have a small Brother machine and a limited space. I now plan all my quilts in thirds or 6ths. When I make my quilt top I do not assemble the whole quilt, instead I keep it in thirds or sixths. Use extra pocket for your pattern of complete quilt of the book in which you found the pattern. Books come in 12"...

  • Wrinkle Releaser

While long arm quilting, there are times when the batting or quilt top becomes wrinkled from being rolled. I spray them with a little wrinkle re-leaser and smooth out the wrinkles before quilting to avoid the wrinkles from being quilted into the quilt. The product also reduces static electricity that...

  • Tip for mailing a quilt

I have mailed many quilts and have always ended up with a bulky, oversize package to deal with. Recent postal rate increases and package size constraints can make this an expensive venture, many times with added oversize package charges. I now pack my quilt inside one of those vacuum storage bags inside...

  • Re: QCA Member Tip Contest - Post Your Entries Here

February Newsletter Tip Winner: I'm not sure how "creative" my tip is for this post, but the best way for me to get a project finalized or work completed is for me to be completely and totally organized - which of course, takes time! I would say the best gift a quilter can give him or herself...
