  • Heirlooms from my Grandmother

My Grandmother married in 1931 in Kansas. As a wedding gift, family and friends embroidered quilt squares on flour sack cloth. The embroidery was done in the year before the wedding after their engagement was announced. Each person signed the square they completed... in embroidery! These squares are...

  • Crock Pot Covers

Has anyone seen a pattern, blog post or tutorial for a crock pot carrier for the oval, not round, crock pots? I can't seem to locate one and thought my fellow quilters might be able to help. Thanks in advance.

  • Re: What other hobbies do you have besides quilting?

Quilting is my first love, of course. But I also love to do historical costume, read, basic knitting, gardening, spoil grandchildren when I can see them, play with my 3 furry friends (puppies/dogs) when they visit or I visit them, getting settled in my new home....not necessarily in that order. And most...

  • When quilting a large quilt on my DSM

I have a small Brother machine and a limited space. I now plan all my quilts in thirds or 6ths. When I make my quilt top I do not assemble the whole quilt, instead I keep it in thirds or sixths. I cut the backing one inch larger all the way around, unless it is the final edge. I cut the batting the same...

  • Re: New to quilting

I have been stuck on bed size quilts since I started quilting and have only made a handful of smaller projects...

Use extra pocket for your pattern of complete quilt of the book in which you found the pattern. Books come in 12"...

  • Finishing your quilt when using appliques

I am creating a custom twin bedspread for my grandson which is covered with random appliques. To finish the spread, I am quilting it. How do you handle appliques when quilting? Do you stitch the quilting pattern over the appliques, or is this a personal opinion matter? If the latter, what would you do...

  • Wrinkle Releaser

While long arm quilting, there are times when the batting or quilt top becomes wrinkled from being rolled. I spray them with a little wrinkle re-leaser and smooth out the wrinkles before quilting to avoid the wrinkles from being quilted into the quilt. The product also reduces static electricity that...
