  • Wanted: Quilter's Cay quilt pattern from August 2005 Quilting with Style

Can any one help me? I was gifted some Quilting with Style magazines which are no longer being produced. I found the perfect paper pieced quilt for a dear friend but I'm missing one issue that holds 1/3 of the quilt design. I need August, 2005 Quilting with Style magazine's section on Quilter's...

I worked on the Star mini quilt block that Kris designed. It took me awhile but I'm pleased with how it turned out. I think I'll make more blocks for a lap quilt.

  • Re: Paper piecing

OK! I googled DWR on internet, printed pattern and started on first paper piecing. Whew, 1/2 day later I had 1st section pieced, cut and just was so surprised at the difficulty, and pride at finally getting that one portion done. 1st a picture of my Ms Ella Now for the pieced part and the start of the...

Hi Shirley, I recently tried paper piecing and enjoyed the process. Your block looks great! It just goes to show how much paper piecing can help. I am an artist and have trouble translating it to fabric, thank you for spurring my creativity! Judylee

  • DIY Templates Tip

I glued my printed paper pieces onto my template sheet before I cut them out. Now I have all the printed information, I can jot a note on them, and I only had to make one print instead of several.

  • Paper for paper-piecing

I have been paper-piecing for many years and have tried all different types of paper from regular copy machine paper to freezer paper and even tracing paper. I finally have come up with what is the solution for me. I use onion skin paper which was used for typing copy ages ago when we used typewriters...

  • Re: paper piecing books

I enjoy paper piecing now that I have the hang of it. I've done a couple of kids quilts and a small wallhanging. I have Jodie Davis' Backyard Birds paper piecing book and am looking forward to making a quilt from her patterns. One of the things I like about p.p. is being able to use up all those...

  • Re: Paper Piecing

Joy I have used printer paper but don't like it. It is harder to tear away in my opinion. If you want to do paper piecing I highly recommend getting a package of Carol Doak's paper piecing paper. It tears away very easily and goes thru the printer just like printer paper. I think you will be...

  • Re: Paper Piecing

I didn't care for the stickiness of freezer paper while paper piecing. I just used plain old copy paper. I shortened my stitch length and didn't have any problems. When I get home I will take a pic of what I made it had LOTS of TINY pieces in it!!! I used copy paper because I used my printer...
