Does anyone know of a free tutorial to do continous machine embroidery? My machine has a 4 x 4 stitch field and I want to embroider a stipple design.

  • Need recommendations for long arm machine and frame

Hi, everyone. I am a newbie to QCA and am in the market for a long arm machine with frame. I don't want to use my regular sewing machine for quilting, but would rather spend the money for a long arm. For anyone who owns a long arm machine and/or frame, could I please get the good and bad of your...

  • Re: Did you work on a quilt today?

Diane and Stephanie, You both asked about monofilament thread. There is great information at with lots of educational info as well as product info. I love their MonoPoly which is a polyester monofilament invisible thread that is soft and heat resistant unlike nylon monofilament...

  • Monopoly invisible thread

Please share your experience on machine quilting with monopoly invisible thread. What size machine needle worked best for you? Did you need to adjust the upper thread tension, the bobbin tension or the foot pressure? How did you knot this slippery thread? Did you drop the feed dogs and use the free motion...

  • Re: How would you quilt this?
I actually bury the knots using the quilters knot.
Judy, do you mean to say that you do this by hand, the way you would if you were hand quilting a piece? If so, you are a very patient person. I think I'll continue to take a few little bitty machine stitches...

  • Re: Machine quilting tips?

Gale Painter's tape...the blue kind... works great for marking any kind of straight line. As with anything you sew going in opposite directions is best if you can find a way to get the bulk through your machine. As for the gloves or the grips it is personal preference. If you can get a secure foundation...

  • Re: How would you quilt this?

Gale, You're going to think I'm nuts to have done this, but I'm about to start a quilt that also is rectangle-based, and have been thinking about how I would quilt it. I made up a simplified version of yours on EQ6, and put quilting in some of the blocks to illustrate my idea. This would...

Really? Can you work with a queen size quilt on that? (I don't see myself making anything bigger than that.) I'm really excited to think a frame might be within my reach! I've been put off by the packages at the store - up to $20,000 for an Avante, deluxe frame, software, etc.
