• Re: Machine quilting large quilt
Judy, ............. Be sure to use quilting gloves too. They're a huge help in moving around. Love my Sapphire to FMQ but had to make some tension adjustments. Recommend doing a test piece. Best wishes and look forward to seeing your quilt.
Quilting gloves...

  • Re: What I learned...

Its funny you should post this question to everyone; I was just thinking last week how far I've come in quilting since I started. It was quite evident when I had to make my in-laws quilts' smaller. The quilting looked like a 5 year old did it, my stippling was enormous, my points didn't match...

  • Re: Sit down quilting machines

I have a Pfaff grand quilter (hobby 1200) and I have been really pleased with it. It's moderately priced compared to some of the others but it has all the important features: knee lift, threader, thread cutter etc. You can use it as a sit down, which I do, or put it on a frame. I didn't get the...

  • Re: Stencils for Pounce Pad

Hi Sharon, Glad to help! I like to be thrifty where I can. I buy the best rulers and such but the everyday little things can save you enough to buy another one of the best items. Did you know that a sharpie, overhead projector sheet and a coloring book can make stencils with, will make almost any theme...

  • Thread breaking

I decided to delve into machine quilting today and because I didn't want to risk messing up a large project, I simply cut a 12 x 24 sandwich on which to "play". Because I have never quiled with my machine I didn't have any machine quilting thread. I only have 100% cotton thread and...

  • Re: How I baste/sandwich my quilts

I used SHARON SHAMBERS basting technique as shown in the FREE SECTION of her web page. I use the boards to roll up the parts of my quilt. I use embroidery thread and sew using the HERRINGBONE STITCH to secure the layers of the quilt. This method is the easiest for me since I can do it on my cutting table...

  • Re: Did you work on a quilt today?
I worked on Jodie's BOM sampler most of the day. I refuse to give up on it and am determined to finish it
Diane, don't give up, you will get there, I made it and so can you - felt so good to be able to put it on the bed when the first cold spell hit...

I have a quilt that has a 3in border. The rest of the quilt is quitled on average i inch apart. What size should I make the border quilting design? 2 inches wide - keeping with what I call the 'white space' on the rest of the quilt? Or 2.5 inches wide or the full 3 inches wide and get the 1 inch...
