Yes, I did work on a quilt today even though one of my gf called and said she would be over after lunch and never showed up. I put everything away and now, I feel I have lost a whole afternoon of good quilting time. But here is what I did this morning. I finished F & P Civil War Sampler top... got...

  • Re: Quilting Gloves

I absolutely love F&P quilting gloves! I think you were looking at the wrong ones at JoAnn's. The only downside to the gloves is they don't last long...maybe a year or so before they start getting holes in the tips. (But I do a lot of quilting.) I have also purchased the more expensive ones...

  • machine quilting rectangles

Help! I am a fairly new quilter. I am attempting to quilt echoed rectangles but can't manuever the quilt very well under my machine (I just have a standard Kenmore machine - nothing fancy!). I am using my walking foot rather than free-motion because I thought it would be more precise, but it is taking...
Judy, ............. Be sure to use quilting gloves too. They're a huge help in moving around. Love my Sapphire to FMQ but had to make some tension adjustments. Recommend doing a test piece. Best wishes and look forward to seeing your quilt.
Quilting gloves...

  • Re: What I learned...

Its funny you should post this question to everyone; I was just thinking last week how far I've come in quilting since I started. It was quite evident when I had to make my in-laws quilts' smaller. The quilting looked like a 5 year old did it, my stippling was enormous, my points didn't match...

  • Re: Sit down quilting machines

I have a Pfaff grand quilter (hobby 1200) and I have been really pleased with it. It's moderately priced compared to some of the others but it has all the important features: knee lift, threader, thread cutter etc. You can use it as a sit down, which I do, or put it on a frame. I didn't get the...

I thought about...

  • Re: Stencils for Pounce Pad

Hi Sharon, Glad to help! I like to be thrifty where I can. I buy the best rulers and such but the everyday little things can save you enough to buy another one of the best items. Did you know that a sharpie, overhead projector sheet and a coloring book can make stencils with, will make almost any theme...
