  • Re: Quilting a small piece.

When my material shifts I check a few things first: Are there enough pins? Make sure they are no more than a fist apart. Are the feed dogs down/covered? Some machines have adjustable presser for the presser foot...can you loosen a bit? If all else fails try a walking foot. (Although I don't like...

  • Re: Longarmers Share

I have a long arm system and I would gladly load and baste anyone's quilt for just $15.00. Any takers out there? I use either regular cotton thread at 6 stitches per inch or dissolving thread. The dissolving thread will disappear in warm water (usually in your tub) after you have finished your quilt...

  • sewslip

Has any one ever used this product called sewslip? I have been having an issue with my quilt not moving well when I am machine quilting. It often sticks. I saw this on line and was wondering if it is worth it to buy it.

  • Best way to rip out machine quilting stitches

I started machine quilting a lap quilt awhile back, but hate the way it looks. I am starting the tedious process of removing the stitches, but I am worried about accidentally ripping the fabric instead of the thread. This is one of the very first quilts I tried to machine myself and I had read about...

  • Re: quilting on a domestic machine

I, too, am of the smoosh persuasion. I find that rolling it up is like wrestling a telephone pole. Also, I have just one 5' long table. Sometimes lower my ironing board to table height to help with the load out to the left side of my machine. One thing I find to be SUPER IMPORTANT is good basting...

  • Re: Did you work on a quilt today? #3

Welcome to the UFO club MNnancy! Yes, I worked on a quilt today, yesterday and Tuesday. I got it finished... It actually a table runner from Spring 2011 - Easy Quilt- " Candy Flowers" designed by Jodie Davis. Very pretty! I like mine though and finished putting the buttons on this morning,...

  • domestic machine quilting, help please

I've been working through a book "Easy Machine Quilting". I've done the exorcizes on 14" blocks, they turned out really well and like to use my domestic machine for quilting. But now I have a lap quilt (maybe a little bigger) I want to start on. I've done a bit, but find myself...

  • Re: Did you work on a quilt today? #3

Yes, I did work on a quilt today even though one of my gf called and said she would be over after lunch and never showed up. I put everything away and now, I feel I have lost a whole afternoon of good quilting time. But here is what I did this morning. I finished F & P Civil War Sampler top... got...

  • Re: Quilting Gloves

I absolutely love F&P quilting gloves! I think you were looking at the wrong ones at JoAnn's. The only downside to the gloves is they don't last long...maybe a year or so before they start getting holes in the tips. (But I do a lot of quilting.) I have also purchased the more expensive ones...
