  • Free Motion Quilting vs. Long Arm Quilting

I am slightly dyslexic and have a terrible time with free motion quilting because it is backwards, my brain can't seem to handle it. I have looked into long arm quilting machines, but they are so expensive. Is there any type of a set up out there that would allow me to use my Ellisimo II as a type...

  • HQ Avante Question?

Hi everyone. I am new here and I have a huge question. I am looking into buying a midarm quilter. After looking at several on the net and trying to go over reviews, I was wondering what you opinions are on the HQ Avante. There was several others along with Husqavarna. I just want a midarm that floats...

  • prices for sending quilt to LAQ

Hello my little quilting buddies, I am here at work during a quiet moment, and thought of this question while pondering my next quilting project. (I know I should be doing real work, but like I said, it's a quiet morning.) My question is, how much does it actually run to have a single size quilt...

  • Gracie quilting system

I would like to hear from quilters who own or have owned the Gracie quilting system. What machine did you use it with or did you buy it with the Juki? I work full time and my quilting time is limited. I usually send my quilts out for an overall quilting from a local quilter on her machine. I have been...

  • Re: Stencils for Pounce Pad

Hi Sharon, Glad to help! I like to be thrifty where I can. I buy the best rulers and such but the everyday little things can save you enough to buy another one of the best items. Did you know that a sharpie, overhead projector sheet and a coloring book can make stencils with, will make almost any theme...

  • Re: Thread breaking

HI Granny M, I think that I am also late in this discussion, did anyone mention tension? As a Longarmer that is the first problem with breakage. Then sharps needle is also very helpful along with slow to medium speed. Works for me! Judylee

Hi Joy, I hold my stencils down with painter's tape, it holds well and leaves no sticky residue. Judylee

  • Re: Stencils for Pounce Pad

Hi Sharon, I am a longarm quilter as well and I bought a pounce because I had read that I would need it. Staples has the old fashioned clear overhead projector sheets that work wonderfully. Change Your needle to a Size 18 and stitch without thread. I found out that the pouce is messy and it is very easy...
