  • how to learn to hand quilt

I'm new in this craft. I'm intrigued by hand quilting but don't know how to go about learning it. I'm reading every teaching book I get a hold of. Are online classes useful? Is it best to see first hand how it's done? Thanks!

  • Seeking advice re hand quilting log cabin quilt

This is my 5th hand pieced quilt. All I have done in the past is 9-block quilts, outlining (hand quilting) the seams at a 1/4 inch. I don't want to take the easy way out on this quilt. I am not very artistically inclined (the pattern came from Eleanor Burns, Star Log Cabin Quilt), so I have no clue...

  • Merry Christmas! Hey from Tennessee!

Hello Everyone! I've been quilting since the 80's. I'm a member of my local guild, "Cumberland Valley Quilter's Association." I have a few of my quilts in my gallery. While watching Fons and Porter on PBS, I fell in love with the "Flower Bed" recreation. She recreate...

  • Using embroidered blocks

Hi! I have been machine quilting for several years and recently started hand quilting with a group from my church. Now I have volunteered to set together six embroidered blocks that have to be set together for the printed quilting design to work. However, I need the finished quilt to measure about 90...

  • Re: How can I figure out what to charge someone for hand quilting?

I have heard of different ways to charge for hand quilting. Some charge by the quilt size, say 2-4 cents per inch. Others may charge by the number of yards of thread. Spools list the yards on the package, so the number of spools used can be calculated with the price per yard. The average price I've...
