• Turning a Quilt on a Grace Frame

Hi I am new to this group. I have the Bernina Grace Frame and I am using a Bernina 880 on the carriage. I would like to quilt a king size quilt on the frame but I know that I will need to turn the quilt when I run out of room in the throat of my machine. Has anyone ever turned a quilt on a quilt frame...

  • Stencil Help!

Hello, I am wanting to follow a stencil for a border pattern for FMQ (Free Motion Quilting). However, I don't see a way of quilting it continuously without breaking my thread and restarting over and over and over. Are all stenciled patterns like this, non continuous? Is there a way to make a non...

  • Free motion quilting classes in Midwest

I'm looking for a hands-on free motion quilting class in the Midwest. I'd like to learn and have had little success trying on my own. Any recommendations for quilt shops that hold classes? I could just start calling, but would save time if I could narrow it down some. Thanks

  • Re: Pfaff problems and free motion quilting

Well, I decided I just could not tolerate the problems anymore and traded in my Pfaff 2.0 for a Bernina 750 with a stitch regulator. What a dream of a machine. I had started stitching in the ditch with the Pfaff prior to trading it in. Once I got the Bernina I was able to reduce the pressure foot pressure...
but can't get my sewing machine to do correctly to let me do the stippling design....
Just a quick question - did you put the feed dogs down to do free-motion quilting? You will also have to adjust your tension. Try the process out on a quilt sandwich sample...

  • Re: Looking for ideas for an all over design for a baby quilt

I love to do the swirls with loops and hearts on baby quilts. This design seems to give enough density that it will hold up for decades and looks adorable and suitable for baby!

  • Re: Finishing your quilt when using appliques

Wendy, I don't think there are any rules in quilting. It all comes down to personal preference. Personally, I quilt around my applique motifs' because I want them to stand out. And the hole in the actually looks really neat because you can see the shape of the motif from the front!...

  • What is the hardest part about quilting?

I'm getting ready to start my little window pane baby qulit. I'm new to quliting. I am thinking I'll just cut and sew blocks and strips just like anything else I do, but I'm wondering if I'm missing something. So tell me what the hardest part of quilting for you is. Also, what should...
