  • Beginner - Is 1/16 loft too thin for a baby quilt?

Making a baby quilt and I want to use 100% cotton batting, with as low of a suffocation risk as possible. It's a crib sized quilt. Thank you! This is my first quilt, and I really appreciate any guidance. :) P.S. I am using a regular sewing machine, so it needs to be able to roll and fit in the machine...

  • how to learn to hand quilt

I'm new in this craft. I'm intrigued by hand quilting but don't know how to go about learning it. I'm reading every teaching book I get a hold of. Are online classes useful? Is it best to see first hand how it's done? Thanks!

  • Re: Learning curve is pretty steep for me.

I think you're right. Un-sewing is the way to go. I managed to get the top and one side done last night and now I want to go back and fix the slightly off corners in a few places. And there is one block that I need to just re-do. Wish me luck. And thanks for the support.

  • Learning curve is pretty steep for me.

I have struggled with a complex quilt kit most of the year. Finally got to the last border; quite wide and beautiful fabric; only to find that I had mis-measured. My quilt is now 10" too wide and long. So as I see it, I can double the next to last border and make a 2" flange; cut half of my...

  • New member asks about quilt software programs

I am learning different ways to cut patterns for making lap quilts. I own a laptop computer and wondered if any of you fabulous expert quilters have any suggestions for design software that would assist me. Do any of you use anything with Windows 7 format. Putting colors together is my most challenging...
