  • Left-over batting pieces

What do you do with your left-over hunks of batting? Do you sew them together to use in larger quilts? I have made many small wall-hangings and table runners/mats... But the pile in the corner is starting to grow!!! Also, I have made "quilt as you go" quilts, and the batting only has to be...

  • adding to a pattern

Would like to know if it would change the look of a pattern by adding extra batting to leafs. I have been making leaf quilts and was wondering if I could put batting behind each individual leaf, add the leaf veins and any other embellishment I wish, trim the batting close to the outline of each leaf...

I am wondering what other considerations you have about the batting besides loft. If there aren't any other considerations - layer up the polyester as suggested. Myself I prefer natural fiber batting and have used Dream Wool from Quilter's Dream. It made up nicely and provided enough loft for...

  • Re: Batting

Joni I have bought high loft polyester batt at JoAnn's. I have also machine quilted with it without problem. Like Gini I have also used 2 layers of batting if I wanted something heavier.

  • Re: Batting

Joni, Quilter's Dream Puff is a high loft batting. However, high loft battings are difficult to machine quilt and are more suitable for tying. Batt-Mart is a great source for batting. They know about batting. Check them out for more information.
