  • Re: Pellon Nature's Soft batting

I just came upon this post as I was looking to get some opinions on this batting. I bought it at JoAnn's awhile ago, queen size for $15, half-price. The lady at the register told me she had used it and loved it, for both hand and machine quilting. I want to use it to hand quilt, and have my quilt...

  • Llama batting

I am new to quilting. I have been spinning for awhile. I have some llama fleece that will not make a soft yarn. I was thinking about using it for batting. Has anybody done/used llama batting? Do you think it would be a good batting? Thank you, Bobbie Joe

  • Re: I'm NEW -- Time-sensitive advice please on applique

Nana, Thank you SO much for your prompt response! That's so reassuring! Have you trapunto'd also and does that hold up, too? I have heard about two ways to trapunto: 1) sew applique, then cut the back of the fabric and insert extra batting, then stitch the hole closed 2) sew two layers of batting...

  • Different types of quilt filling

I recently became interested in quilting and am currently working on my first quilt! The reason I became interested is because I have a quilt my great-grandmother made for me about 20 years ago that has been very much loved. I've had to repair it in places, but now it is beyond my knowledge to repair...

  • Re: Quilters Dream Orient Batting

Hi Many thanks for your replies. It is good to know that there don't seem to be any major problems, as I bought it on the spur of the moment! It sounded really good and I wanted something that wouldn't be too hot or too heavy for my daughter's bed. I just need to stitch 120 blocks together...

  • Re: Please talk to me about batting

At Quilter's Warehouse seemed to be the cheapest place I found -- and sometimes hard to find the size you want, so guess they sell out sometimes, must be the cheapest! I am handquilting on one now and I love it. Also bought a Dream Green to try next, like the idea of it being made from recycled bottles...

  • Re: Opinions and Input - Or Help

Melissa, I think as long as you use 100% cotton batting you'll be fine. (at least that's my preference). JoAnn's has a brand called 'Pell' I think and its fantastic. As always with a coupon any batting at JoAnn's is much more cost effective than LQS batting. I have stopped using...

  • Batting

Hi! I am new to the board and fairly new to quilting. I am making 3 picnic quilts for my children and their families, and would love to have your opinion of what type of batting would be best for this type of project. Thanks!
