• Re: Please talk to me about batting

At Quilter's Warehouse seemed to be the cheapest place I found -- and sometimes hard to find the size you want, so guess they sell out sometimes, must be the cheapest! I am handquilting on one now and I love it. Also bought a Dream Green to try next, like the idea of it being made from recycled bottles...

  • Re: Opinions and Input - Or Help

Melissa, I think as long as you use 100% cotton batting you'll be fine. (at least that's my preference). JoAnn's has a brand called 'Pell' I think and its fantastic. As always with a coupon any batting at JoAnn's is much more cost effective than LQS batting. I have stopped using...

  • Batting

Hi! I am new to the board and fairly new to quilting. I am making 3 picnic quilts for my children and their families, and would love to have your opinion of what type of batting would be best for this type of project. Thanks!

  • Re: 100 0/0 cotton over blend?
why do people tend to make more quilts with cotton over a blend? just wondering is it preference or is there a reason?
I have asked this question to many different quilters in several states. I think it boils down to personal preference. Personally, I have always...

  • Best batting

I used 100 percent ployester on my first quilt. It puckered some, and it's too war for a year round quilt. Any suggestions on which batting to use for my next one? I want to keep shrinkage to a minimum. I'm thinking 100 percent cotton will shrink, but I hear it's best for a year round quilt...

  • Re: Let's talk batting

I usually use Warm & Natural 100% cotton batting as well. I think it's the best on the market for the money. But last weekend JoAnn's had queen size packaged batting (cotton) on sale for $14.99. I think it was Pollen brand but I'm not sure. I wish I didn't throw out the package. I...

  • Batting

I am writing this post for my son who spent 2 hours debating batting with me yesterday. (He does not quilt). He believes that the thicker the quilt, the warmer the quilt. Finally I told him I would post a question here so he could see the answers for himself. Which is warmer low loft cotton batting or...

  • Re: What is your favorite batting?

Kathy I always use 100% cotton batting. I think it's cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter. I think it's also easier to quilt. I tried polyester once...never again. It just didn't work for me. I have never tried bamboo; I just won't spend the money on it. I would rather spend...

  • Re: Batting Seam Tape

Flojo, I purchased my batting tape at a small quilt shop after watching the store owner "tape" batting together for a quilt. I was amazed at how well it worked! After she sandwiched the quilt I couldn't see the seam and I was sold! I have used this on numerous occasions and love it. The...

  • Wrinkle Releaser

While long arm quilting, there are times when the batting or quilt top becomes wrinkled from being rolled. I spray them with a little wrinkle re-leaser and smooth out the wrinkles before quilting to avoid the wrinkles from being quilted into the quilt. The product also reduces static electricity that...
