Have you ever sandwiched your quilt o a bed? Table surfaces are on-existent; floor to low for my old back. Any suggestions?

I'm wondering what is the preferred way to baste a quilt. I tried pinning for the first time and it's going very well. I hand quilt and I usually baste with thread but have always hated the time that takes. Are there pitfalls to using pins and how close should they be set?

Glenda-- I also use the blue painter's tape that others have mentioned to secure the individual layers, but lately I discovered that once that's done, if I take the pvc clamps from one of those quilting frames and clamp the whole sandwich to my table before pinning, it keeps everything extra...

I had the same problem as a beginning quilter! You should see how my first quilts came out! Oh My Goodness!!! But what Judy is saying is the best way to do it...I still layer my quilts this way. You can purchase painters tape 2" wide...which really makes 'un-taping' much easier. I smooth...

Does anyone use a tag gun to make their quilt sandwiches? I used one for a long time in drapery making and the first one I ever bought was made for quilters. Is there a good reason not to do that? Perhaps a pain to remove the tags? Claire
