  • Which do you prefer? Basting Pins or Spray and why?

As I am starting my next quilt, a Quilt As You Go styled one, I am choosing to go with pins, what are your thoughts on basting? Thank you in advance for sharing your thoughts. :)

  • Sandwiching

Have you ever sandwiched your quilt o a bed? Table surfaces are on-existent; floor to low for my old back. Any suggestions?

  • Best way to baste?

I'm wondering what is the preferred way to baste a quilt. I tried pinning for the first time and it's going very well. I hand quilt and I usually baste with thread but have always hated the time that takes. Are there pitfalls to using pins and how close should they be set?

  • Re: Help with pinning layers

Glenda-- I also use the blue painter's tape that others have mentioned to secure the individual layers, but lately I discovered that once that's done, if I take the pvc clamps from one of those quilting frames and clamp the whole sandwich to my table before pinning, it keeps everything extra...

  • Re: Putting all three layers together

  • Re: domestic machine quilting, help please

Does anyone use a tag gun to make their quilt sandwiches? I used one for a long time in drapery making and the first one I ever bought was made for quilters. Is there a good reason not to do that? Perhaps a pain to remove the tags? Claire

  • Re: What I learned...

Its funny you should post this question to everyone; I was just thinking last week how far I've come in quilting since I started. It was quite evident when I had to make my in-laws quilts' smaller. The quilting looked like a 5 year old did it, my stippling was enormous, my points didn't match...

  • Re: How I baste/sandwich my quilts

I use a fu;ll size frame to do my needle and thread basting, or when I do a tied quilt. I posted a picture couple days ago when I was basting for a hand quilting project. Now where did I post that picture? Cheryl, if you're close enough to come over, we'll have a basting party!
