If you do the applique by hand you might put the shirt in an embroidery hoop to keep it stable while you sew. If you do it by machine I would...

    Nancy Yes you can applique to a t-shirt. Just put stabilizer on the inside of the shirt and then applique over it. How fun your pig roast sounds.

  • What is your favorite applique method / technique?

    I am a glutton for punishment.... My GF signed us up for an applique class ( it was her turn to pick a class for us to attend.) ....We are suppose to learn several different methods for hand applique. I have never been fond of hand work but this looks half way fun as we can pick our own designs from...

    I am84 years old and the present time and I find it very dificult to follow all these instructions. I have been quilting for about 36 years and still enjoy it. So do my children and great granchildren+grandchildren. Hope to continue for a good many years.

    Hi Gini, To get the paper out of the applique you trim the base fabric from behind the applique. You'd want to do this anyway if you'll be hand quilting the quilt so as to reduce the layers.
