  • Wanting to get more serious about quilting...

Hey everyone. :-) I would really love to make a small business out of quilting, but I'm not exactly sure how to go about it. See, I'm a stay at home mom and I want to work from home. I'm very attracted to the design aspect of quilting. I've designed several quilts and wall hangings. I...

  • Quilt Appraisal

I recently received a quilt and would like to get it appraised by I'm not sure how to go about finding somebody to do this. I live in the Spokane, WA area and could use some ideas or suggestions on where I can start looking.

  • Re: Did You Work on a Quilt Today? #5

Thanks Barbara for both threads. Actually all's I'm going to do is add a large border. That way I can still follow the pattern, which is for a novice like me. Yep, I definately feel like I bit off more than I can chew, but I think it'll work. The actuall pattern is for a twin bed, so I'll...

  • Re: How do you store your rulers for easy access?

I bought a peg board from home depot for about $13 then painted it pink (my sewing room colors are yellow, sea glass and a splash of pink) then I bought all the metal holders - you can buy baskets and a bunch of different things for it. I need the basket for some stuff I cant hang (my rag quilt scissors...

  • Re: Longarmers Share

I have a long arm system and I would gladly load and baste anyone's quilt for just $15.00. Any takers out there? I use either regular cotton thread at 6 stitches per inch or dissolving thread. The dissolving thread will disappear in warm water (usually in your tub) after you have finished your quilt...

  • Finding a good handy repairman for your sewing machine.

I called four different places and compared prices. I decided to go with the one who looks at it for free and then gives you an estimate. Everyone else just quoted their price for fixing plus parts. Plus this guy runs out of his house is open 24 hours 7 days lol. So I am assuming he is going to be more...

  • Looking for quilt retreat location...

Hi everyone - My sisters, cousins, and friends are looking for a place to hold a quilting weekend retreat. We prefer to have it in New York state, as that is where most of the participants are from. We were hoping to get a B&B type of place to stay in, but most of those do not have the table space...

  • Did you see the "Secret Window" quilt revieled on FB? Why . . .?

If you saw the pictures http://www.quiltmaker.com/secret_window_revealed.html can someone explain to me why Sandy's quilt has two different looking blocks? Is that just a personal preference, a mistake, or what? I love the other quilt and love the colors in Sandy's but I wish someone could explain...

  • Assistance needed for a bargello lap quilt with a celtic cross in the middle.

Hello, I saw in a magazine a celtic cross lap quilt and loved the quilt but wanted to make it more like bargello around the cross itself. I am completely new to bargello so the first step I did was to take the class online from Ruth Blanchett. Which is a lot of fun btw. The bargello design is the winter...
