• Re: Did you work on a quilt today?

Yep -- I finished the borders on our Mesa Verde "Ugly Fabric Block Quilt" Our group was given the fabric back in January and asked to make a 12 1/2 block using the "Ugly Fabric" and other fabric's of their choice. We had 22 fat quarters the girls shared and we ended up with 30...

Yesterday I did work on a block for our Ugly Fabric Challenge. We needed three more blocks to make the 30. So three of us took enough fabric to make them for next Thursday. I had to borrow a machine and it took me awhile and a few false starts, but finally managed. Today I'll go back to the MQ 2...

  • Re: Ugly Fabric Contest

Goodness gracious, you all did fabulous job turning your uglies into great quilts! It was really difficult to choose. I decided that the best use of the ugly needed to be the criteria. Alex and I both just cast our ballots (I had the nerve not to even check e-mail this weekend while my sis was here,...

Carol, Your "messed up" quilt is beautiful. Using the kaleidescope blocks is brilliant. It looks better than if you had used only 5 fabrics total.
I'll have to check out that block. I don't think I have ever made one before.
Jeanine, Eleanor Burns has an easy shortcut way to make the Brave World block, in episode 3012. (Unfortunately it's not on QNNTV, but I found it on VIMEO.) The video includes...

Here is my second block for our group quilt. It's a block from the Winter Easy Quilts mag, called Honeycomb. I changed the measurement of the pieces to the "Lumberyard" dimensions. I'm running out of ugly fabric.

I'm not in this contest. However, since I challenged our quilting group to take a piece of fabric that I thought was ugly and make a 12 1/2 block with it. So here is a picture of a piece of the fabric and my block!

Jeanine-- Well, I have to say you've done a great job of making lemonade from that lemon of a fabric! Actually, I didn't think it was such an ugly fabric in the first place, but it was your ugly and you've made it look beautiful!

Joni, in this thread, look at the last post on p.4 - the link to the rules is there. Thea put it in a new thread so it's by itself. I had to use search to find it as it didn't pop up on it's own.

Hi All-- The posts and pictures on this thread have been so entertaining. I still don't think that that many of the fabrics are really ugly, but then I love paisley (that seems to be a minority opinion here LOL) so maybe I just have quirky taste in fabric, huh? Anyhow, I'm looking forward to...
