• Re: Looking for Long Arm Advice - Need your experience

Two years ago, I bought my HQ18 Avante. Yes, I would buy it again! I have it set up at 12 ft, it takes up most of my basement. I do not have the ProStitcher. It's an extremely easy, forgiving machine to learn on. Things I would want to know: 1) At the time I bought my machine, the Handihandles would...

  • Looking for Long Arm Advice - Need your experience

For those of you with a Long Arm machine..... would you buy the same machine you have now again? Last year I was looking at the HQ Avante with the Pro Stitcher but now more manufactures are coming out with computerized quilting. And I'm lost on which machine to really look at for purchasing. Here's...

  • Quilt for a foster child

Thanks, Carolyn, for your blocks. Take a look at the quilt we just sent off to Samantha! She's a foster teen in Rhode Island who just lost her mother. Our message? You are not alone. We'll be starting a new project shortly for another foster child. Watch for my post.

  • Buying a longarm (HandiQuilter HQ Pro Stitcher)

Yesterday was the 3rd time I went to look at the Handi Quilter setup (HQ18 Avante and 10ft frame). 16K ! (yikes - that is a car payment). But I'm getting more and more serious about the purchase. Anyone familiar with a recent long arm purchase or this machine? I'm looking into the computer generated...

Hi Everyone! Wow, a big welcome to all the new members! So many in so few days. There is so much talent here! I am back from my visit with my sister in VT. Had a wonderful time! It is so beautiful up there in Northern Kingdom VT. How deceiving is the beauty of summer there though, the winters are brutal...

  • Re: It's Time for MQ V!

I've been looking through my magazines at the Christmas wall hangings. I made one last year for our motorhome. It was one of those last minute panels and I added some borders and then quilted around it. It really did turn out cute and the kids did like it, so that is important. I started to cut some...

  • Re: Longarmers Share

I have a long arm system and I would gladly load and baste anyone's quilt for just $15.00. Any takers out there? I use either regular cotton thread at 6 stitches per inch or dissolving thread. The dissolving thread will disappear in warm water (usually in your tub) after you have finished your quilt...

Yes, I did work on a quilt today even though one of my gf called and said she would be over after lunch and never showed up. I put everything away and now, I feel I have lost a whole afternoon of good quilting time. But here is what I did this morning. I finished F & P Civil War Sampler top... got...

  • Re: Machine quilting large quilt
Judy, ............. Be sure to use quilting gloves too. They're a huge help in moving around. Love my Sapphire to FMQ but had to make some tension adjustments. Recommend doing a test piece. Best wishes and look forward to seeing your quilt.
Quilting gloves...
