Sandy,

your quilt is lovely. Great fabric choice. I'm so glad you shared.

I recently purchased the book "Beautiful Bargello" by Jeanne Stauffer and I'm trying to get the fabrics together for the cover quilt. It's very similar to yours. My husband saw a photo of a bargello quilt and wants me to make one.

I took a class years ago and actually finished the quilt but I have no idea where it might be. The pattern was a very simple beginner design from Marge Edie's book "Bargello Quilts".

Thanks Kris.  The bargello patterns do require concentration and accurate seams to get the right effect, but it's all squares and rectangles (just small ones).  I made this one in a 4 week class and it took me the whole 4 weeks to complete.  I take the extra time to pin each seam before I sew a new row so I'm sure to get a good match.  That's why the pink ribbon I'm doing will be a career!

I think the fabrics are what make the bargello.  I had help from the lqs owner selecting mine as it's all about values and shading.  Couldn't have done it without her help.

Wonderful design and the color combination really makes it stand out. .  I made a biginner one when various wine colors for one of my daughters.  If you keep it small it really is not that hard.

Thanks for resurrecting this conversation from 2009.  Now I see that Sandy has also made a bargello.  She might be willing to lead a group.

That is breathtaking :) love the twisted design. I only have done the season patterns for a class. But you make me want to win the lotto and go buy fabric for yours lol.

there was a pattern called "Persian Rug" bargello at my LQS and I almost lost my mind and bought it.  It had a lot more than 21 different fabrics in it.  I can really appriciate them but I'm not sure I really want to make one that bad.

My son is being deployed to Afghanistan and I have been looking for this pattern.  Can anyone share it?

I am new to this website, but loving what I am seeing!

Thanks to anyone who can help me find this pattern.

Not sure if it's the one you're looking for, but if you google Bargello Flag Quilt Pattern, there's a free one that comes up...  Prayers for those headed to deployment and those waiting for them at home.

Wasn't it Marge who made a waving flag quilt?  Marge, where are you?
