Thanks!!!  I learned how to do this a while back......forgot and just was leaving the raw edges exposed, although no one returned the pillowcases I made them (lol) it is much nicer to do it this way!!!  Glad you reminded me!  Great job with the description as well as the pics.....

I was totally intrigued by this. It occured to me that this is a great way to make gift bags -just scale down the pattern! I made one for a wine bottle last night to try it out. I cut the body of the sack to fit the bottle and the cuff 4 1/2" wide (So it finished at 2"). I cut the trim 1 1/2" (So it finished at 1/2") and folded it on the ends over so that it was 1" shorter then the bag was wide (In this case the bag was 15" wide and the trim finished at 14"). I centered it on the bag so that when I finished sewing everything together, the ends weren't caught in the seem and  I could use it as a casing for a draw string.  It came out really cute -in fact darling Hubby said he hates to give it away! LoL  (I hope this makes some sense. My camera died so I can't post pictures)

I think it'll save me quite a bit of time this year! Who doesn't love getting a pretty bag with thier gift?

This is a much easier process than the pattern I had been using.  Thanks for sharing.

I almost didn't read this because I have a very good pillowcase pattern I have been using for years.  What a mistake that would have been!  While the fabric cutting portion is basically the same, I love the "hot dog" method.  Huge time saver from my previous method!  THANKS!!

My sister and I used this technique to make pillowcases for the relatives.  Each had their favorite sport, animal, etc material.  We made 27 cases in one day!  They are so beautiful (and easy) and everyone loved them.  It helps having 2 people - one sewed and one ironed.
