Life is good! I turned the a/c on in the sunroom and went out this evening to stash shop. The room was nice and cool. Molly hadn't been out there yet so it was new for her. She started barking and she never barks. In the backyard was a mother turkey with a dozen little turklets. They are so cute! They were going for a stroll in the yard. We have a mated eagle pair across the street and I hope they don't see those little turklets til they are bigger.

And I found my fabric. I do need to build the stash. Mighty poor pickin's out of that stash. I'll take pics tomorrow for the group thumbs up or down.

We will be cutting 6 1/2 in squares and we should be able to get 6 squares out of strips.  So if you have a strip that is at least 40 inches it should be alright.  I like to have a little extra so I will probably try for at least 42 in length.

Having said that you should be ok using two pieces that you can get 6 1/2 in squares out of.

Nana, I'm confused. Are we cutting 2 1/2 inch strips by wof and stated in the first pages or 6 1/2 inch strips wof?

I'd like to join this group. I haven't gotten my fabrics around but should be able to do it this weekend. I hope this is a easy one to start off with.

Stephanie

We will be doing 2 1/2 in strips by wof....preferably at least 42inches.   But we will end up with 6 1/2 in squares eventually.

Nana:

We will be cutting 2 1/2 inch  strips by wof.   And we will need 15 strips of each value.

Nana - I am also al little confused.  I did find this on the first page.  Your last post said 6 1/2" squares.  Could you please clarify this?  I plan on cutting tomorrow?  Thank you for your help.

Nana - PLEASE ignore this post.  I could not figure out how to delete it.  I saw your post several posts before mine but I had already done this.  My bad!?!?!

Bonnie that's ok.  The last couple of weeks have been very hectic at my house and I am beginning to feel totally brain dead.   There are days that I have trouble remembering my own name.  My instructions have been a little confusing in the last few posts.

Clarification ......

cut 15 strips at 2 1/2 inches by wof in all 3 values....lights (15 strips),   Mediums (15 strips)... darks (15 strips).

You will need at least 3 fabrics in each value....9 fabrics total.   Can also use 5 fabrics of each value or 15 different fabrics in each value.

wof preferable at least 42 inches.

hope this helps clear up any confusion......   It will be at least another week before I can start this project in earnest but get those fabrics ready....

I think there was some confusion earlier about "wof."  It refers to the width, from salvage to salvage on a bolt of fabric.  which is usually about 42-44 inches.  So by cutting 2 1/2 inch strips going across the width of the fabric,  will result in a strip of the suggested size.

Nana,

Thanks for the clarifications. Here are my fabrics. I only have one strip for some of them, others I can cut into more strips. I won't use any of the fabrics more than twice.

The blue on top looks bright and medium in the picture, but it's really quite dark.

It will be very scrappy!

I like these. I'm going to post mine but I think they are blah. I need opinions. Now after seeing Judys' mine look like old dish water.
