Hi, I am asking members to make blocks for a quilt for Julienne. Julienne suffers from a rare disease that causes her to constantly have strokes. She has been a good member here and has had a rough time this past year.
I have asked Candis who put the blocks together for Barbara's quilt if she would be willing to put the blocks together for Julienne's quilt and she has graciously accepted my request - so anyone who would be willing to make a block for a quilt for Julienne please contact me.
Julienne participated in our Secret Santa program for the last two years and even though very sick was able to put together a gift this year.
Her favorite color is blue or purple - she doesn't have a favorite block so any block would be fine - and she doesn't have a favorite fabric...
But in making a quilt up I think we need to have similar fabrics - so I am asking for
12 1/2" unfinished blocks - blue or purple fabrics and that the fabric be a batik. Any block of your choice.
If you contact me that you will do this, I will give you Candis' address to send the blocks to - I would love to have all the blocks to Candis by the end of Feb if that would be possible.
I thank all the wonderful quilters on here for this comfort quilt for Julz' while she recovers and hopefully it will have tons of prayers in it that when she recieves it a miracle will happen in her recovery!
Thank you so much in advance!
I'll be more than happy to make a block for Julienne, and purples and batiks are right up my alley, but I suggest doing 12" blocks as it won't take quite as many to make a nice sized quilt. I did the one for Marge and I only received 42 blocks and it made a very nice sized quilt.
You know I am in !! I do however agree with Karla. 12 1/2 in block would maybe help more, not needing as many. Love Batiks, purples and blues will be beautiful!! Can't wait to get started on this!
I'm in as well!
Count me in. She was my SS this past year. She did a fine job of putting my gifts together, you would never have known she was so ill.
I am definitely in! And I have some batiks in blues and purples that have been waiting for their project to come about.
Okayy - we will change it to a 12 1/2" unfinished block - blue and purple batiks and I thank all those who have gratiously said they would make a block so far - hopefully we will get a nice amount to make a nize size quilt for her.
For those who don't know Julz... she just got married in Dec and her wonderful husband is trying hard to take good care of her. Sad to be so happy and be so sick at the same time... but at least we can do something that she can hug and feel our love and prayers for her recovery to good health!
Okay, this may sound like a dumb question but I have not been quilting long. I have mostly used embroidery in my quilt. So, what are batiks and how can you tell them from regular quilting material. Thanks and God Bless. Darlene in Indiana

Darlene, A batik is a cotton fabric that is a tighter weave then most cotton fabrics. If you go to your local quilt shop, or you google batiks at an online store, you will find some absolutely beautiful designed fabrics.
Thanks Thea. I am going to my quilt shop tomorrow. Have to take my machine in for some adjustments and it's yearly checkup. God Bless. Darlene in Indiana
Thea - count me in for a block, I've don't remember her but got some purple batiks and will gladly make a block. I'll pm you for where to send.

Thea, count me in for a block.

Absolutely count me in for a block or 2. Will check on the batik status and get them out by next weekend.
Thea, I'll be happy to send a block. Any idea of the deadline or did I miss seeing it?
