Elaine Phillips:

Oh, no, another MQ already? I haven't finished 7 or 8 yet. But how can I resist starting another project. I'll just have to dig out another project bag.

Well, I haven't started MQ8 other than buying the fabric (the hard part, right?! LOL) and like Karla, I'm committed to RR4 and the Union Sampler but like Elaine, I can't resist starting another project! And yet, like Kris, I'm not ready. Ready or not, September 6 is just a few weeks away!

Oh My Goodness, Roxanna... You took the words right out of my mouth.  So tempted to do the Union Sampler but what do I do with the queue of projects I'm already involved in!?  And then there's that 40 hours a week I have to put in at work...

This is a much easier pattern than MQ 8 and should go fairly quickly.   The steps are easy and even the cutting isn't too bad.  We should be able to have this one finished up in 5 steps.

Gini, this year's challenge quilt is called "15 Shades of Gray."   In September/October, participants will pay for a package of 15 different grays in layer cakes and strips.  We can add any other fabrics we like, make it as big or small as we like, and use whatever quilting styles and techniques we like.  Quilts are revealed in June.  No prizes are given.

I'm also planning to make a challenge quilt for the state quilt show.  Similar rules, but with a prize of $100.  Here are the fun fabrics for that...

Black Multi   Packet 1A - Byblos Multi 6603 Packet 1B - Candy Dots Lime 5786 Lime Packet 1C - Floral Dream Blue 6586

We have about 100 members.   During warm weather months, we average 75 attendance which drops to 50 in the winter.  We probably get 20-30 members who will buy any year's challenge fabrics and 8-12 who will actually show something at year's end.  It's about the same for our mystery quilts or BOMs.

I'm right there with you, Elaine!  I'm in, but it may take me a year or so to actually complete it!  I just need to clear out some space so I can work on my quilting again...
