This is a class I have enrolled in that is given by Superior Threads company. In case anyone else is interested, enrollment is due by 6-19-13. Each month for $16.95 (plus another $29.95 the first month) they send you a kit that includes instructions, thread, and everything you need but the fabric to learn about the different types of thread and how best to use them.
