Jen your DWR Quilt is beautiful, as well as your hand quilting :), you have one very lucky friend to be receiving such a treasure!!!!
Beth, how pretty. I love the pattern and the colors. Great work.
Julienne - Mid Mo
And let me add to Angele's testimonial that Nancy is one lucky gal to have Randy around in his summer shorts right now. : )
Beth this is a beautiful quilt! You did a great job finding the missing blocks.
Angèle from NWO
Marie, I can't comment on this part as I've never seen Randy in his summer shorts... ;-)
Well it's now 9:30 on this cloudy Monday morning. I'm getting ready to clean house and go in my sewing room which I've missed for the last three weeks. I want to take pictures of my new addition a FW 222 model from 1957. I guess we will grow old together as she is a year older than me! LLol then I need to start cutting a baby quilt for a great niece coming in December I think...
Beth, it's awesome you were able to finish the BOM your mom started 15 years ago. It's beautiful, love the colors! I'm curious, which 2 blocks were missing? Were you able to buy just those 2 blocks on eBay?
Angele, I have and it's a sight to behold!
Joyce, I want to make them. Have no pattern, and no clue how to make them. I saw somewhere how to make them out of cloth diapers. But, don't know where I saw it. Will have to google that. It was a longtime ago. Hope I can find it again. If you have a pattern, where did you get it??
Marie, the two block that were missing were the one in the far right corner (all one inch square blocks), it was called "sunshine and shadows" and the center block with the Sunbonnet Sue. Mom had never done applique, always loved her patchwork and I think the small blocks were too frustrating for her, but yes, I went right out on ebay, and found the sunshine and shadows from a woman in Michigan, and the Sunbonnet Sue was from a lady in California, and I found I didn't have enough fabric to frame the blocks and do the very outer border, and a woman in Florida was selling off the very same fabric I need for that...best part about it??? The die lots must have been the same because there was no difference between the fabric I already had from mom's stash and what I received (Very lucky !!!)
Ohh one more thought before I get off this computer and get on with my day...Someone had posted about those washers for the bobbins??? I ordered them because my bobbins in my bernina did create the "nests" on the back of my quilting occasionally, and to me it sounds like the bobbins don't fit snugly into the bobbin case. They really do work! I've been amazed and what a difference it has been making even just in my ordinary work that I'm doing on the machine...I would say well worth the investment!
Beth, that is totally amazing! Guess this quilt was meant to be.
Sukochi, do you mind if I jump in here? I searched on line for free pattern for burp cloths and got mine that way. I make them out of cotton flannel with batting in the middle. My GDs all loved them for their babies and have asked me numerous times to make them for gifts they need to give. Ginny
Hey, Ginny, the pool is open, so jump in. That is helpful. I will search online then. Thanks so much.
Tnmtgrl, your DWR is wonderful. I'm planning to start one in the hopes of having it done before my 20 year granddaughter graduates college and gets married.
