I've been looking for a free pattern to make a carrying case for my Nook. The only patterns I have found are like a bag. Looking for something more book like that has a stiff front cover that opens opens then on the other side is a holder for the Nook.

Donna, I want to also add a pocket for the power cord and another for the ear buds. Here is one I just found.

Donna, here's a free pattern for a tablet  cover and stand. It'd have to be modified for the Nook. it'll give you an idea. I like this site for free stuff as well as patterns people have made and sell.

Actually, this one is closer to what I am looking for...has a zipper to keep the dust out and a pocket for the power and/or ear-bud cord:

And note, this pattern is not free.  The one you referenced is, but it will not work for a Nook at all (Nooks cannot be read horizontally).

But, thanks everyone for searching.  I still think I will take the 'best ideas' of several patterns and draft my own.

Me Too!  I have also looked a lot, but have only found free patterns like you describe for the Kindle.

BUT, I don't see why you couldn't use a Kindle pattern and adjust the size slightly to fit the Nook.

That is what I plan to do!  In fact, I plan to customize mine even more by putting in a zipper on the top, right, and bottom "open" sides (like a zipper on a notebook) so when you un-zip it,  it will lie flat open with the Nook secured (as you described) on the inside of the right page. I also want to make a little pocket for the power cord on the outside too...maybe at the bottom?  Any other bright ideas we can share???

I forgot to mention, that I saw one pattern for a Kindle cover that used a "foam" placemat as the padding/stiffener for the cover.  What a great idea!  I ran right over to Walmart and bought a couple, but haven't put them to use yet.  Too many other projects need to be finished before I tackle this...LOL!

I don't have any links but are all nooks same size?  Wouldn't it be like making book cover measure size needed add seamm allowance add front like frame?

I was not able to find Nook specific patterns, but I found patterns for tablets. They fit perfect. There are a few different ones out there that you might like. I will look the links up and repost. ~ Juliennne

I don't have any handy, but I have "pinned" a few of them.  If you are on pinterest, you can search for Nook.  I just saw a really cute one that was made out of a pair of denim overalls and the strap was the the closure.

Susie, I do like the idea of using used denim for this.  I need to make one for a son and that would work out great for him.

Thank you for all the suggestions, but I still don't see any made with a zipper like a notebook.  Having a relatively dust-free enclosure is important where I live, so I really need/want this to be as "sealed" as possible when closed but also easy to open and read.

I think I am destined to make my own pattern!  I wonder if there would be a market for this?
