Today, while using spray adhesive to 'baste' my queen size quilt, I thought of what to use to smooth the layers all out---my wooden pastry roller! It covers a large area, and smooths evenly. Just don't do it so aggressively that it will push wrinkles in. I'm not sure what taste it will add to my pie crusts, though, lol.

Pat, I hope your pies will not be sticky LOL .. good idea on the roller, esp,since I use already made pie crust, my roller is free to try ...LOL Barbara
