OK ladies.....you finally convinced me.  I watched you sewing away on your beautiful quilts with those little black old machines and was amazed.  I have been looking at them on-line for a few weeks and finally broke down.  Or maybe because I've been feeling so lousy all week with a cold, I needed to feel better......so, I've bought a Singer Featherweight.  It's coming from Canada from e-bay.  It showed very well online and the pics were very good.  And the price was right.  Now to get it delivered and have fun playing with it.  I have a whole box of attachments for a Singer Treadle machine so I wonder if they will fit onto the Featherweight?

I can't wait to have it delivered.

Congratulations, Diana!  Have fun with your new baby.  I highly recommend the book "Featherweight 221: The Perfect Portable," available on Amazon.  It's very interesting reading, and at the back is a complete service manuel.

WooHoo.  I know you will love your little baby.  Most of the old attachments will fit on any of the older machines.

Oh I know I want one but with my track record for picking duds I  might end up with a lemon.

Kris, I so love my Singer featherweight and sooo think you should have one.  I wish I had had help researching one for me. The one I "won" on EBAY did not come with many extras but I wanted one made in my birth year so am happy with it.  I saw a lady at guild sewing with a little hand crank sewing machine that was made in the late 1800's. My Sister gave me a Singer Spartan sewing machine she found at a garage sale that I may have converted to a hand crank.  It looks like a bigger version of the FW.

Looking forward to seeing a picture of you with a  Featherweight of you own.

Marie

For a good featherweight you can expect to pay between $250 - $350.   Sometimes you can get lucky and catch a bid just right and get a lower price.
