What is so funny about this is that I got a seed catalog today, and there they were, being called mystery lilies.  No wonder I didn't recognize them by naked ladies.  I like that name better than mystery lilies     Ginny

MNnancy:
DH just suggested dinner out tonight.  I'm all for it even though dining choices are pretty limited in our small town.

DH and I both enjoy cooking, so it can be very disappointing to eat out.  Dinner tonight was steak and shrimp with twice baked potatoes and candied carrots.  We'd had all of two bites of our salad when the entree arrived.  The steak was gristly, the shrimp were cold, the carrots were swimming in an overly sweet butter sauce, and the garlic bread was half a hamburger bun.  But the house wine (merlot) was good, and the brownie with raspberry glaze dessert was delicious.  We won a $10 gift certificate at the ice fishing contest a week ago, so for the price, it wasn't a bad night out.

Happy Valentine's Day to you all!

When Randy isn't home for dinner, I make melted cheese tortilla roll-ups.  How's that for effort?  (and nutrition?)

MaxNTopeka:

Angele,

Here is pic of my Naked Ladies ( sometimes called Surprise Lilies) from last year.  The leaves come up in the spring, then die back. Later in the year, late August around here, the bloom stalk shoots up and blooms.  Ours are about 20 inches tall when they bloom. The only color I've seen them in is the pale pink.

Max

thanks Max. I can honestly say that I had never seen those lilies before. They are beautiful.  I wonder if they would grow in our zone....hmmm will have to check that out!

Marie, your baby quilt is getting quite big! It's beautiful. If the quilt is going to be washed often, I think an all over meander would work great. The other thing I might do is to quilt the diagonals of the windmills, and meander the rest.  Whatever you choose, it will look great.
