Good Morning --
I am wondering a few things about needles in general.
What size needles do you prefer for
Also, does anybody have a good source for buying needles in bulk? I am looking to buy them in bulk instead of the 5-packs that are sold at JoAnn's.
Thanks.
Check out www.sewingpartsonline.com You can get 100 Schmetz needles for about $45 which is a great price. Hope this helps out.
Diana (Bink) in East Tn.
All Brands also sells needles in bulk. I like Organ. Price depends on material from which needle is made.
Here's an article on machine needles and how to choose them.
This one is about hand sewing needles..
This was great info for me. I always buy schmets 5 pk, and didn't know they were available in bulk. Thanks for asking ?
Quilting My Rainbow
Kristin, I usually use a 90/14 for the majority of my piecing but that is because I do mostly foundation piecing and this size works best with the multiple layers. I usually use the same when doing paper piecing.
To purchase my needles I use my 40 or 50% off coupons at JoAnn's whenever I am in there. The store in my city sells needles in 10 packs and the coupon makes them reasonable. This allows me to stock up at a better price.
I like the price Diana quoted and will be looking into this for future purchases.
Good luck.

I really like the organ needles for piecing. I use the needles I buy from Nolting in my quilt machine and cannot remember the name of them off hand - they are the ones they recommend and as much as the machine cost I figure if they cost a little bit more I'm not going to quibble (I'm not really sure they are more expensive)
Thanks for the links Kris.
