Patti, thanks for the gorgeous pictures!  We have the snow, and it's quite pretty on the trees right now, but we have had day after day of gray gloomy skies.  I would LOVE to see a sunrise or sunset.

They are calling for snow here day after Christmas.  Hopefully, it won't be like 2009 when we shut down for 3-4 days - couldn't get out in it, ice beneath snow and kept thawing and then refreezing.

Bev :
Donna, I love that picture and what a great way to get exercise and enjoy the "snow". I always thought that I would like cross country but that was when I was younger. Is it true that it is more strenuous than downhill skiing?

Thanks Bev, Spud replied correctly that it is more work than downhill skiing.  We call it the "warm winter sport" for a reason...you really warm yourself up doing it!  (It's kind of like the adage about having a wood stove, ie:  you get warm cutting the wood, splitting it, and then burning it...lol!)  I am pretty much a flat trail skier.  I don't do very well going up hills...just don't have the endurance for it anymore.  Thankfully we have lots of mostly flat trails around here along with the steeper trails.   At my age, I am just happy to be able to be out enjoying the snow, fresh air, and the exercise.  My idea of a perfect day is to ski in the morning and quilt in the afternoon!

BTW, I didn't mention that we have a "senior" group that skis together every Tuesday during the ski season...all of us are over 65!  In fact, there are a lot of "over 75" skiers that live here and are on the trails regularly.  As I say, we're not the fastest out there, but we are enjoying every minute of it anyway!!!  You don't have to be fast or perfect to have fun cross-country skiing...you just have to do it.  It is really a lot of fun...and slow can be very good sometimes...lol!

Great photos everyone. I'm glad those who love s**w is getting some of it. It sure looks good in photos. Our white stuff changed to wet stuff this morning so most of it is gone.

Sounds wonderful Donna. I probably will never ski again (I did mostly downhill) but, I'm very happy for you that you are still able to enjoy it.

Me to  Nancy! These grey skies are getting to me.   I love the snow we got, I would love it more with some sun!
