I am making a french braid quilt for my niece for her wedding. king size! found a pattern that sounds pretty easy to use in mccall's sept/oct issue. it uses and 8" foundation paper to start each row. am thinking of 3-4 inch sashing between the rows vertically. my question, how do i figure out how many frenc braids to make and how long they need to be? i just want them on the main part of the matteress. will put borders on the sides.
a king matress is 76" wide by 80" long.
you need to know how wide each braid is to figure out how many braids across you need. then, make them long enough to fit the above measurements.
