Georgetown, CA I'd Rather Be Quilting
Thea, this is way cool. I think that would be a great quilt class for a window quilt. Oh, speaking of a window quilt. Jim wants me to make a quilt for the big window in our bathroom. It is very large and it keeps the bathroom cold all winter. It has a grid design so am thinking of doing a quilt with blocks in the sizes of the grid. How, though, would I hang it? I will take a picture of this window and show y'all for suggestions. We will just use heavy plastic this winter, as it is about here and I haven't time. It takes me forever to make a quilt, as you all know.
Speaking of how long it takes me to make a quilt. I will use 2013 as the year to totally get all UFO's out to the quilter and to start and finish the 5 quilts that are wai,t patientl,y in a drawer with their patterns safety by their sides. Well, it was patiently. Now, when I go in there, I have started hearing some major groaning and moaning from that drawer...... Kinda creeps me out, too.
Thank you all for the kind comments - this is a fun quilt to make - I am going to finish #2 right after the holiday and get it ready to send to my kids for next year. I'll be a year ahead. And I have ordered the new Quilt Company quilt called Peppermint something - senior moment -for Christmas - this time I am only making the one so maybe I'll get it done... who knows... so much on my plate lately... that and a McKenna Ryan quilt for the holidays... plus so many quilts to quilt up - and a couple that need bindings done... I am getting better though... sewing more and more each day... it is great therapy to see my work getting done.
I would love to help you with your window Sukochi. there are many ways to hang quilts - I have a dowel across my front window and I put sleeves on quilts that I use for the windows. I grew up in the north and my first house that my 1st husband and I had had very breezy windows - i learned what good insulation quilts made and how you could design with them... I have good windows in this house but I love decorating with my quilts and using them for the windows is great - my windows have that stuff in them that keeps the bad rays out so I don't worry about them fading or distorting - besides the fact that they are usually only up for a season and sometimes just a month...
I applaud you on your goals to get some of your UFOs done.
Thea!
