I am hand appliquing blocks for a quilt.  I want to hand embroider the details on the leaves and flowers.  What do you think, should I do it after piecing the blocks together or after machine quilting the quilt?

I personally would do it on each block as I go, otherwise it gets very heavy. But mind you I'm not the expert.  Maybe someone else has a better way of doing the embroidery.  Good luck.

i should read more carefully.     i do the embroidery on the block before it is set into the quilt top.   it is much easier to work on.

Thank you,  I never thought about the weight of the finished top.

Thank you for the input.  I feel more confident about what I am doing now.

Ginny

I do the embroidered details before I sew my blocks together.  It seems easier to handle for me.
