Does anyone have a good site for Mug Rug Patterns (easy ones Please)? I have 8 people in my office group I'd like to make a rug for them.

Pam you could make small blocks out of Christmasy fabrics. Nine patch, four patch, star blocks, something simple and quick. You wouldn't even need to bind them . After you've made the block maybe do a quick stitch in the ditch. Place the finished block on top of the batting. Place the backing fabric on top, right side down. Stitch around leaving an opening to turn. Turn it and stitch 1/4" all around the edge. It's done.

What a great idea! sure saves me some money...rather than trying to figure out what to do for the 24 people in my office. Scrap fabric/batting. Awesome!

Annie: What's a mug rug?
A tiny, quilted, placemat/coaster for your coffee or tea cup. Some are square or they can be rectangular to provide a place for a small snack.
I am in the process of a bunch of mug rugs right now. They are the result of pieces of fabric left from fussy cutting yardage to make place mats.No piecing involved. The hardest part is that I decided to do binding just because it was ready to go, leftover from the placemats.

If you do the scrappy strips like suggested in the tutorial you don't even need a pattern. If you do paper-piecing, almost any of those patterns make great mug rugs.
