MNnancy that fish deal is a good one. I'm going to have to scratch that out in me book and think about it.
My Update: brain building newborn quilt is to be done in a week or so. Then it's time to test my unmade resolution. Will I finish UFO's (two shirts and a sheet, the second lizard) or will I go on with other stuff.
Another side note: this brain quilt is the first and only one I've done where other people picked the fabric. I must admit, I just can't like it as much as when I use my own hare-brained ideas.
But I do like making stuff for the not-yet-born. That's a good thing.
Thank you to all for the lovely comments on my Dresden Plate quilt and cushion. I still have 3 blocks and the pieced borders that are planned for two smaller quilts.
Agnes, I absolutely love your dresden plate quilt. It isso feminine looking. Just makes me drool. Ginny
A friend taught me how to do this quilt. Supposed to be really simple. I had so much trouble with getting the 4 patches to be all the same size so they woul meet properly. I thought that I cut them all the same, but obviouly some were cut on one side of the line and others on the opposite side of the cutting line. I could not get them to match up. So now I have 20- yes 20- orphan quilt blocks. The idea was simple but it taught me a valuable lesson in the care to cut very accurately. That is why they are getting a large throw instead of a bedsized quilt. LOL Ginny
Ginny, could you add sashing so they wouldn't have to match. Then the quilt would be a larger size. So what if the pattern changes a bit. Or if they're 4Patches, can you square them up to be the same size?
Margaret
There was nothing that I could do to make them match any better. Some I could take apart and skimp on the seam allowance but it was a lesson learned. At this point it has been to the long armer and is all quilted. I will wait until sometime next year to decide what I want to do with the rest of them. Actually they are 4 patches that you cut apart 1 1/2 inches from the center seams and rearrange them for the pattern. Turned out not to be my favorite although I like how the quilt ended up. Ginny
Ginny - I am going to have to look up this pattern because it is interesting to me.
Are there any others out there that like the McKenna Ryan Christmas quilts. I have made one of her applique' Christmas quilts each year - this year I had ordered it from Nancy Notion's - she has some good sales on these most of the time - well I got a notice that it was back ordered and wouldn't be in until January -- well I thought that was okay... saddened me but I was okay...so then I got notice that it was on its way... it arrived today... and I have been copying the pattern onto fusible for hours and hours...I have what 18 days to get it done... maybe...
But it is fun to work on raw edge applique - I am thinking that it might be in my top 5 ways to make a quilt ....teehee
Judy beauitful fabric, Can't wait to see what you do with it. Barbara

xoxoxo,
Hi MzMoomMist - Merry Christmas to you too! I was watching the news today and they were taking a Manger display all around the USA reminding people of our rights - the season is about Christ and I love seeing Merry Christmas instead of Happy Holidays...
Thea,
I love McKenna Ryan's designs! But will probably have to ask for the patterns for my birthday or next Christmas . . . :-) At least my birthday is coming up .. .. can't wait to see how yours comes along! I think I do better w/applique, nothing to match up. Have fun!
Thank you Barbara. I am just dissapointed that I couldn't use all of my squares on it. Oh well, lesson learned--The hard way. LOL Ginny
