So I recently did some "tube quilting". For those of you not familiar...you have two strips (2 1/2 inch each) of different colors sewn together and one 4 1/2 inch of a solid. You sew the 2 1/2 strips together (wof) and attach the solid to them (right sides together) and you have a tube. Use a square ruler to cut the strips, lining up the 45 degree angle on the seam line and you have a complete block! Easy, easy!
So anyway, I had some awkward end pieces left after cutting the blocks. Some were triangle and not sure what you would call the shape on the other end...lol. But it just so happened that the triangle fit on the other end piece, upside down. I was able to sew these together and make a REALLY interesting border for the quilt! I love it! Haha. i will try to post some pics tomorrow...

It truly is a small world, I just watched that video and was amazed at its simplicity but it looks complex. I am doing a few of them to take to my sewing group!

Just looked at the video...good use of the strips and quick and easy project starter. I can see lots of uses even using various sizes of strips for a more scrappy look.

Thanks Gini, the possibilities are endless. Wish I had that kind of vision. I watched another video of Jenny's the other day and she put a 2.5" square on the bottom right of every courthouse step block and it was amazing that little change gave to the quilt, it created a diamond shape at every corner.

What a neat idea!!! Thanks for finding that video Gini. Sherrie Curtis at our shop uses a similar technique on the Strip Club quilts she does. They use a Strip Tube Ruler bu Cozy Quilts Designs to cut the blocks.
