I'm looking for theBEST thread to use for my free motion quilting. I would appreciate all suggestions. Also, what kin kind of needle to use.

MaryAnn - I use 50st aurifil for most of my FMQ. I only do FMQ on my domestic machine - I do not have a LA - I believe it is different for the LA machines. I use a BOHIN quilitng needle type and 80 is the size.
that is 50 WT
I usually use a 50wt Aurifil and a Schmetz needle size 90/14.

Yes you do want to use 50 wt on home machine ,I tried using 40 wt and my machine does not like it at all , skips ,breaks and just doesn't work well . Barbara

The finer the thread, the higher the number. 50 wt is standard weight for piecing and works well for FM quilting. 40 wt thread is better for hand quilting. Many silk, rayon and embroidery threads are as fine as 100 wt. I like Aurafil, but I know many that have a preference for Superior threads. They have a great resource on their website about threads and needles.
