I want to make a couple of Star War quilts and I picked up some fabric I love but not sure what pattern to use. Any ideas? Thinking something with red for the first fabric and a black, white, and red for last fabric. Maybe use the 2nd fabric for border or spotlights.

Have you thought of fussy cutting the first fabric into blocks? You could use coordinating fabric to bring each block to the same size or by making scrappy blocks as alternating blocks. You could use the other fabrics in borders, alternating blocks and/or sashing.

Whatever you do, it will be a great quilt.

i like judy's idea,  you could also fussy cut the words star wars out of the second fabric and use it for sashes.

I too, would fussy cut the first fabric. I am just excited to see the fabric you have. I made a  quilt out of a sheet that I just batted and tied for my son, 28 years ago! Now I bought fabric for his son's quilt, also on the backing. I am piecing it so it it is reversible. a calm side for Mom and a wild side with all of his interst on the back. I am making a 4 patch and then framing X 2 so they are all 12 inch blocks. (Here you could use your fun fabric and use a 5 inch, or so square) There are 3 layers together, flannel in the middle. The back will then be clipped so it is ragged. No need to quilt later. I will use a regular binding. I cut my strips 3 inches so all my seams are 1/2 inch for the rag look. Good luck!

Do you like paper piecing?  If you do go to this site.  They have some really cute Star wars patterns that I plan on doing for my hubby.

You could do the few they have and then pair them with larger blocks with the star wars fabric you have already found.  I think that would be cute!

Jeannie

Very pretty quilt.  Never been a big Star Wars fan.  I was always a Trekkie.  Guess I was born too early for Star Wars...LOL>
