I am new to the group. My name is Aubrey Harns. I've always loved quilts. I grew up watching my mom & granny make quilts. One of my earliest memories is playing under the quilting frame with my sister while my mom & granny quilted above us. (Greatest fort ever!) :-)
I haven't actually completed a quilt of my own yet. I've completed one top & started another. I've helped mom to work on plenty though. For now, my attention span seems better suited to small projects. I love to make tote bags/purses, etc. I guess I'm baby-stepping my way up to completing a quilt.
I hope to get to make new friends here. I'm sure we can all comment on our love of quilts/fabrics/colors, etc.
Welcome aboard. You'll get lots of help and ideas from this site. Everyone is so thoughtful and we all like sharing.
We look forward to seeing your projects, quilts or otherwise. Please be sure to set up your gallery.
Hi Aubrey, welcome to our great big happy family! I come from a family of non-quilters, they crocheted and made braided rugs. I learned from Eleanor Burns, bless her heart, when she had her show on PBS. Aside from watching her, I'm pretty much self taught. Three years ago I joined QCA and have learned so much more about quilting and have made some lifelong bonds.
As for your baby steps, those will be gone and you'll be on your way to making "tent" sized quilts as one of our members does.
Making new friends is a given and many will be considered your extended family. So hold on to your hat and enjoy the ride.
