My pincushion eats needles. I take about 8" of thread, double it, and then tie a knot in the two ends together. When I put it in the pincushion, it won't go through the fabric.
Hope this will help someone who has the same problem of finding their needles.
mine usually get lost in the carpet. i just wait for sam's big toe, it's real good at hunting them down.

I have a magnetic parts grabber from the auto supply store. It telescopes and has a very strong magnet on one end. Just keep it away from computers and computerized sewing machines!Nancy's Notions and Clotilde both have similar product.
