I email the tech line, I don't nessesarily trust the branches. some of the repair people leave a little to be desired. I have my pin dish sitting below my table (the one that fits the open arm part) and haven't had an issue with memory. Just MY memory, the machine works fine.
I like to use magnetic strip for hold a few pins and scissors etc. I also use magnetic storage box for storage so many things like cutters,seam rippers,pins,needles,tape, ruler etc. It is very easy to cutting through any size and easy to adjustable.
